Diamond Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Carolyn Hill) Eakin of Mount Pleasant, S.C. will celebrate 60 years of marriage by affirming their wedding vows with family and friends at the First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant, S.C. on Feb. 17, 2024. Hosts are their children and spouses, Steve (Amanda) Eakin of Newberry, Fla., and Sheri (Jason) Fannin of Mount Pleasant, S.C. Robert and Carolyn were married Feb. 15, 1964 in Frost Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Shreveport, La. by Dr. James W. Middleton, and have four grandchildren; Fisher and Emmett Eakin, and Ella and Claire Fannin.

Carolyn, a native of Shreveport, La. and Robert of Dallas, Texas met at LSU in Baton Rouge, La. in 1960 while attending the University Baptist Church. The LSU graduates honeymooned in Mexico and began their life together in Lake Charles, La. Robert was employed by PPG and Carolyn taught English at LaGrange High School. After being transferred to New Martinsville, W.Va. in 1985, Robert and Carolyn returned to Lake Charles in 1998 and Robert retired from PPG in 2001. In 2009, Robert and Carolyn moved to Travelers Rest, S.C. and then to Mount Pleasant, S.C. in 2020 to be near family.
